CRT stands for Cathode Ray Tube. CRT projector creates high quality picture, even though CRT projector are no longer available for general consumer use, these are used for commercial purpose or theater or industrial settings. Small CRTs (one CRT for one primary color) are united with the magnified lens to produce good quality images. The CRT projector display clear image on large screen only in dark rooms. Proper setting of lens, CRT size and projector is able to produce high quality and high resolution image. As compare to other projectors CRT has longer life. Normally LCD and DLP projector last up to 2000 hours maximum while CRT last up to 20,000 hours maximum.

For selection of projector first of all consider size of the space will be use for projection. For large size CRT is perfect choice but the quality and characteristics are difficult to manage. CRT product good image in dark rooms but in light the image does not displayed clearly.

An option of CRT projector is good when the main motive of projector is flexibility of images displaying. Limitations for CRT are, these projectors are quite large in size. The CRT, lens and screen occupy space so that these are not portable for moving or traveling. CRT produce good quality image only in dark rooms. Any one of the main three projection tube (red, green and blue) if fails then all three need to replace to get balanced color and brightness pictures. Typically CRT is very expensive as compare to other video projectors. And settings take more time to get perfect output than other projectors.

DLP (Digital Light Processing) is a one more leading technologies which are used for the digital cinema projection. The DLP projector works on the basis of Digital Micro-mirror device (known as DMD). In this technology, the image can be created by small mirrors arranged in a matrix form on a semiconductor chip. These mirrors are microscopically small and each mirror contributes one or more pixel in image projection. The approximately number of mirrors is 450,000.

The DLP projector has color projection than any other projection. The color wheel of a DMD panel converts white color into the red, blue and green colors and DMD chip creates 16.7 million color shades of that color. In advance 3DMD chip used to create an enormous number of colors (nearly 30 trillion) to make image more attractive and visible. DLP projector is special in the rainbow effect which gives distraction in view when see from one end to another end.

DLP projector follows two methods for projection: one is single-chip DLP projector and another is three-chip projector.

Single-Chip Projector: This projector use a color wheel placed between DLP chip and lamp or produce primary colors by LED or LASER. This wheel creates primary colors like red, green and blue, in some case secondary colors like magenta, yellow and other. This color displayed sequentially at the high rate and the composition of this colors create full image for the viewers.

Three-Chip Projector: This projector able to create 30 trillion colors. So normally this projector used in cinema projection or large venue projection. I.e. these DLP projectors possibly use to improve quality of image.

There are some advantages of DLP projectors over other projectors. It gives smooth and good ANSI contrast images. Projection costs less than LCD projectors. DLP gives strong color performance as compare to other projectors. It is light weighted than LCD and plasma TVs. LED or LASER DLP projectors have longer life of lamp so need not frequently replacement. Also these projectors can be attached with DVD, VLR players and video games. This provides various models with different features so this type of projector also called as multimedia projectors.

Drawbacks of the DLP projector are it makes noise some times. To display darker image fan may create noise and older projectors may create some noise. DLP projectors are less compatible in creating view angles as compare to CRT and LCD.

But even though with drawbacks, DLP is good in accuracy in image displaying. To display dark images DLP gives more clarity and contrast. So This can be a good option for the projector.

Using computer you can given a presentation but for large group of people, projector is more suitable equipment. From long time LCD projector are quite famous for business, home or classroom.
